The space that was once dedicated to planting, has now been enriched with native fruit trees such as apricot, cherry, pomegranate, apple, and grapevine. The latter, according to an ancient agricultural tradition, has been “married” to the field maple, that is, tied to its trunk for mutual growth. In a large wood box, called the “the oak nursery,” small oaks plants are grown from acorns collected by children under the large tree. These are donated to anyone who wishes to plant them and participate in the great and wonderful cycle of life. The old well and the nearby washhouse are evidence of past activities. The house maids would go there to wash clothes because it was the only place where they could get plenty of water from the nearby well. At the time, doing the laundry took a lot of phisical work, difficult to appreciate today.
